Description
Which landmark court cases have paved the way for gay rights in Europe since the 90s? When will Strasbourg ‘come to the rescue’ and require all EU states to allow same sex marriage? How do we even argue for same sex rights when the LGBT movement denies sex-based reality? What happens when different legal rights are in conflict? Is the Hungarian government right to prohibit the change of legal sex?
Robert Wintemute is a Professor of Human Rights Law at King’s College London, an expert on discrimination based on sexual orientation, with nearly 40 years of experience. He is also one of the original 29 signatories of the Yogyakarta Principles, a human rights document that focuses on same sex rights and gender identity. Around 2018 Robert came to criticize the demands of the transgender movement after listening to gender-critical women and considering the impact of legal gender self identification on women’s rights. He also has a lot to say about the Hungarian legal framework with regards to change of legal sex and fighting discrimination against homosexual and transgender people.
